My name is Mariana. I am originally from Ukraine and have been in the Netherlands for one year now. Here I will tell something about my activities for the Social Brigade and how I try to do something for my native country, my motherland and for my people who are here in the Netherlands.
I am married and have two children, aged 15 and 5. The Netherlands became my second home when I had to escape the war. So I had to rebuild my life from scratch, but I learned a lot quickly!
First of all, when I came here, I helped organize a few festivals and similar events. Together with my daughter and my son we made food and sold it at the local markets and festivals. I also helped a number of people to come to the Netherlands and find host families or hotels.
At the moment I teach English to a large group of people and also on an individual basis if needed. I do that together with the team of Dutch volunteers. And I try to help and support. I feel it is my mission here to do that.
