The full invasion started on February 24, 2022. On Saturday, February 24, 2024, we will together commemorate Russia's aggression and the suffering that has been, and continues to be, inflicted on the Ukrainians. We marched through the city with about 1000 Dutch and Ukrainians. Then we listened to speeches by mayor Koen Schuiling and singing by Tanya Klysnik, among others. Arina Marchuk, a 16-year-old dancer from Ukraine, performed two moving dances around the candles and roses placed near the artistic bombs. We then went to the town hall where we placed the roses and candles in the downstairs room, which was decorated with traditional attributes and a photo exhibition. There we stood, listening to Ukrainian music, reflecting on the situation. We had something to eat and drink together outside.
