During the carefree afternoon of March 12, we asked a number of people what their wishes were. Learning Dutch was the first thing that was said. Within a week we provided the first lesson. The municipality arranged the location in the Biotoop. The volunteers came in large numbers to teach, take care of the children or to serve coffee and tea. This first lesson was special and is probably still etched in the memory of many of us. The strength of the people who were in the Netherlands for barely two weeks. The willpower to make something of this. The pleasure and distraction whatever it gave. This lesson formed the basis for the lessons that are still there today. After the Biotoop we were able to teach in De Hoecksteen from March to July. The church was converted into a classroom every Thursday evening. There was also room for the children to play. From August the lessons will be given in Nescio, the reception location in Haren. People from Groningen, Eelde, Onnen and Glimmen also come to the lessons.
