Olesia is a Ukrainian artist. She fled to the Netherlands because of the war and ended up in Haren in Peize after a short period. "I have been familiar with silk painting in the batik technique since I was 11 years old. I make scarves, handkerchiefs and interior fabrics. All works are full of symbols and are inspired by life events." She uses the Petrykivka technique. From the age of 18 she has been teaching "decorative art" in art studios, schools and later at the University of Kyiv. She taught children, students and adults to work with textile materials in different techniques. "I got to know traditional authentic Ukrainian painting professionally at art school and at first I was engaged in Petrykivka just for the soul." During these workshops, Olesia passes on her knowledge to the students.
