On Saturday, December 3, Sinterklaas also visited the Nescio with a series of his Pieten. It was already a very long time. But before they were handed out by Saint Nicholas, Grandpa Piet first briefly told the children and their parents (and translated by Alexandre) how Sinterklaas, a bishop from Spain -hence his mitre and staff- a whole series of Pieten, who come every year on a large steamer from Spain to the Netherlands to surprise all children in this country. When we had all sung a number of Sinterklaas songs under the guidance of the little singers, and had already eaten many ginger nuts, Saint Nicholas himself entered, solemnly walked through the hall in his red bishop's cloak and then sat down in a large chair to greet all the children one by one. to give one a present. Some little ones were a bit scared or shy at first, but gradually disappeared during the afternoon and they also came to Sint. Sometimes they even wanted to sit on his knee. Many children also had their picture taken with Saint Nicholas. And in the meantime there was fun chatting and tasty snacks and drinks. When Sinterklaas and his Pieten left, they were waved off enthusiastically, while singing the farewell song, "Bye Sinterklaasje, bye, bye, bye, dear Piet!"
